Chart-topping Irish singer-songwriter Gilbert O’
Sullivan, best known for hits such as Alone Again (Naturally) and Clair, visits Buxton next month to celebrate the release of his new album.

O’Sullivan is a global superstar whose influence can be heard in the music of Ben Folds and

Ron Sexsmith.

Known for his song-writing finesse, his beautifully crafted lyrics are both heartfelt and humorous in turns and cover subjects as diverse as war and bullying in schools.

In the 70s the shy and modest Gilbert O’Sullivan made an unlikely figure in the glitter ball decade of pop. However for five years his sensitive and intense songs were just as popular as offerings from the flamboyant Elton John, selling millions of records and notching up six No 1 singles.

Twenty-three albums later, his latest long-player Latin ala G! explores the music that influenced O’Sullivan in the early 60s, when Brazilian artists such as Astrud Gilberto and Sergio Mendes were beginning to gain popularity.

He will be performing tracks from his latest album as well as classics from his extensive back catalogue at Buxton Opera House on Tuesday, February 16, backed by his ten-piece band.
