Loscoe State Opera's final performance at Stainsby Festival

Headliners are looking forward to playing at the 50th Stainsby Festival.

The festival - which has been going longer than Glastonbury - promises a weekend packed with music, children’s entertainment, poetry, philosphy and beer.

Rapper and poet Dizraeli is returning to headline the festival following a storming debut there in 2011. He said: “Chuffed to be returning to Stainsby. The vibe and the welcome are majestic and I will, without question, be joining the jam in the beer tent afterwards.”

Stainsby regulars Loscoe State Opera approach the festival with mixed emotions as this will be their final performance.

A statement on the band’s Facebook page said: “After nearly 25 years, Loscoe State Opera is throwing in the towel. We may do a little bit more studio recording later this year, but as far as gigs go, that’s it! Rock on, all of you lovely people (in a folksy kind of way, anyhow) and thanks for all the support over the years!”

Loscoe State Opera’s flautist and vocalist Ben Deglish has compered the main stage acts at Stainsby for several years.
