BLUES outfit 24 Pesos kick off the week’s entertainment at The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday, September 9.

Julian Burdock and Silas Maitland came together in 2006 to produce an album for veteran soul sensation Geno Washington and, during those sessions, came up with the idea of forming a band and calling it 24 Pesos.

Copious commitments as in-demand session men meant that it was 2008 before they came together to put their plan into action and since then 24 Pesos have made a name for themselves for performing music that is fun to play – and therefore hopefully fun to listen to – challenging and rewarding.

For something completely different, you could try a gig on Saturday, September 10, from HyperMused with their tribute to the musical back catalogue of Muse.

British alternative rockers Muse, fronted by Matt Bellamy, have enjoyed an illustrious career since forming in 1994 and have hit the big time with albums such as 2006’s Black Holes And Revelations and 2009’s The Resistance.

They have sold over ten million albums to date worldwide and HyperMused will be dipping into their repertoire for what promises to be an exciting and memorable gig at the King Street venue.

HyperMused are an extremely in-demand outfit so you can see what all the fuss is about when they come to the Flowerpot this weekend.

Finally, the Acoustic Wednesdays sessions are to continue into the autumn with Clare Free appearing for a free gig in the venue’s bar, from 9pm on September 14.

Doors open for the gigs on Friday and Saturday at 8pm and admission is £9 (£8 concessions) for 24 Pesos and £8 for HyperMused.
