Buxton Opera House is hosting Summer Pops Week, featuring five nights of music, all taking place between July 22-26.
Bellowhead, an 11-piece folk group will kick off the week, returning to the Opera House with an even bigger, bolder and more brazen show on Monday night.
New Order’s albums Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies will be performed in their entirety on the Tuesday night by Peter Hook (bassist from Joy Division and New Order) and his band The Light.
Peter Hook was a massive success when he first appeared at the Opera House in 2012 and now he returns with hits such as Blue Monday, Temptation and Dreams Never End.
On Wednesday night, there is to be A Last Night at The Proms Summer Concert, with the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
The night will aim to mark every great anniversary taking place in 2013 – so expect references to the Oueen’s Coronation, 200 years since the birth of Verdi and Wagner and 150 years of the Football Association and the London Underground!
Jack Bruce, the exceptional bass player from 1960s super-group Cream, will light up the stage on Thursday night with his Big Blues Band.
Then Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will bring the (packed-out) house down on Friday night (tickets for Jools’s concert have sold out).
For tickets call 0845 127 2190.
