Alexei is back by popular demand

UKRAINIAN virtuoso pianist Alexei Grynyuk returns to the area on Saturday, November 26, to perform again with the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra.

He will be the soloist in a performance of Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto at Nottingham’s Albert Hall, the second time he has played the work with this orchestra at that particular venue. The last occasion, three years ago, prompted rave reviews and he is back by popular demand.

The other pieces in this all-Russian concert will be Tchaikovsky’s tuneful Capriccio Italien, and Shostakovich’s monumental Tenth Symphony, written shortly after Stalin’s death and reputed to be a musical portrait of life under the dictator’s tyrannical rule, charting a journey from darkness to apparent optimism.

The concert is to be conducted by Derek Williams and starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £12 for the back stalls, £10 for all other seats £10 (concessions under 21 £6). They are available from the Nottingham Playhouse box office on 0115 941 9419.
