ON of the most talented acoustic guitarists in the world will be appearing at Buxton Opera House on Wednesday, August 31, at 7.30pm, with his band.
Martin Simpson, who offers a unique mixture of American and British music in his repertoire, has twice won BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Musician of the Year and Album of the Year and also for Best Original Track in 2008.
In his talented band, you will also find Folk Singer of the Year 2010 Jon Boden, who has toured internationally with Bellowhead, performed on Later with Jools Holland and also made two televised appearances at the BBC 2008 Proms, Andy Seward, who plays double bass with Kate Rusby’s Band and with John Tams amongst many others, BJ Cole, who is a unique innovator on the pedal steel guitar, and drummer and percussionist Keith Angel, who is well known for his work with Anglo-Indian outfit The Angel Brothers.
All together, this an unstoppable combination of talent, which has taken Martin’s music to a new level and is a thrill to see and enjoy.
