The spring Town Hall Events (THE) programme kicks off on Saturday, March 22.
Wirksworth Town Hall hosts an Americana Evening, from 7.30pm.
Chesterfield-based Feet First dancers will take your breath away with their high energy Cajun beats
Appalachia, from Bristol, offer up their own inspired take on American roots music, combining blues, bluegrass, jazz and unique originals into a potent brew that will make you move.
Featuring soulful four-part harmonies, dazzling instrumentals, and an eclectic repertoire, Appalachia perform frequently at festivals, folk clubs, arts centres and music venues, impressing audiences wherever they go. Weaving their spell on guitars, mandolin, banjo, slide guitar and upright bass, the boys in suits never fail to entertain.
Tickets are £10/£9, available from www.townhallevents.ticketsource.co.uk or Traid Links, Wirksworth, on 01629 824393.
Forthcoming events in the Wirksworth Town Hall programme will see Peter Donegan and Please Y’self perform there on Saturday, April 26.
Thirty years after they last played a gig with the celebrated Lonnie Donegan at the Brighton Pavilion, local and nationally-known skiffle band Please Y’Self are set to appear with his son.
Like his father before him, Peter Donegan is a talented performer and songwriter and his shows are a wholly entertaining mix of his dad’s songs, stories from his childhood and his own great music.
Please Y’Self need no introduction to local people having been stomping out their own inimitable brand of skiffle at home and abroad for over 40 years since they started out as buskers.
Then, on Saturday, May 10, it’s the turn of Ian Siegal in a gig starting at 7.30pm.
Multi-award winning Ian is one of the most gifted singer songwriters on the contemporary British Blues scene.
His shows are always awash with wit, lust and distraction.
Tickets for these shows are available from the above number and website.
