Sir Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mills Band recently enjoyed a prestigious weekend of music making with Her Majesty’s Royal Marines School Of Music, Portsmouth, and guests, the Tideswell Male Voice Choir.
Two high profile concerts were arranged at The Winding Wheel Theatre, Chesterfield and at the town hall in Burton on Trent.
The Winding Wheel concert played to a packed audience, who enjoyed a superb array of musical entertainment from all the groups, with the Royal Marines School Of Music band being the star attraction.
The quality of their playing and professionalism was of a very high standard. A particular highlight was the corps of drums, who gave a thrilling demonstration of precision playing.
All proceeds from the concert went to Help For Heroes, the charity that provides support to members of the armed forces. The evening raised a total of approximately £7,000 for this most worthy of causes.
Sir Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mills Band has worked with the Tideswell Male Voice Choir on a number of occasions, including last Christmas, when the groups joined forces in two Christmas Spectaculars. These concerts again raised approximately £7,000 for local charities.
Since its association with Masson Mills began in 2008, the band has helped to raise over £50,000 for local and regional charities.
The band now looks forward to its next event on Saturday, July 2, at Bakewell Parish Church, at 7.30pm. The concert also features the local youth vocal group Guys and Dolls. All proceeds from the evening are going to the Goboka Rwanda Trust, which supports a number of projects in Rwanda.
Tickets for this concert can be purchased from Bakewell Book Shop, Wards Shoe Shop, both in Matlock Street, Bakewell, or by contacting Heather Thomas on 01629 813824
