Bands team up for acoustic sets

Two of Derby’s top acoustic bands LAF and Leere are combining to put on a special monthly show at the Brewery Tap in the city centre.

The bands first joined forces at the back end of 2011 when Leere were playing a short tour of local venues to promote their Ever Been On Lark Lane album, and found that they had much in common.

The forthcoming gigs at the Brewery Tap, will see the two groups performing a wide range of well crafted, melodic and original material in a purely acoustic setting, all free of charge.

And who knows there may even be a few special guests along the way. The first show is on Friday, February 10.

LAF were formed in 1987 as a recording-only project for the songs of Phil Matthews and Alastair Boden and built up a cult following before the band went into hibernation in the mid-90s.

Renewed interest in the music of LAF brought the band back together at the start of 2009.

LEERE were formed in 2004 after singer/songwriter Simon Monaghan brought together a number of Warwickshire-based musicians to record a debut album entitled Compassionate Ride.

The band operate through a collaborative approach, drawing on the different musical gifts and talents of its many members to produce songs that explore a range of themes and shared experiences.
