It will be déjà vu all over again at Uppertown Social Centre this weekend for fans of Don Keyworth.
In August 2012 when Don appeared again with Top Country Sound for the positively last time, the venue described it as a ‘possibly unique occasion’.
This is because Don has form and has been appearing for ‘the last time’ since 2010. So when he appears again on Saturday, December 14, at Uppertown Social Centre, near Ashover, the club can only report that Don says it really is the last time.
Following advice from his doctor, Don was thought to be performing his swan song in 2010 after a remarkable singing career which stretches back 40 years. His association with Uppertown is almost as long, having appeared there since 1977, often filling the centre four times a year
But Don is keen to outdo Frank Sinatra, who famously had his ‘final’ performance in 1990 and then kept re-appearing until his 80th birthday in 1995.
After winning a talent competition as the band F.N.D., Top Country Sound was formed in 1974.
There have been numerous changes in personnel over the years and the current line-up includes Brian Goodwin (rhythm guitar), Neil McKay (bass guitar), Dave Edwards (drums) and Don’s son Colin on lead guitar. Colin also has his own band, Breaking Poynt, who are a four-piece rock band covering some classic rock tunes from Ozzy to Deep Purple.

n There is to be a Children’s Christmas Disco at Starkholmes Village Hall on Friday, December 13, from 6.30pm- till 8pm.
Young children are invited to the Children’s Christmas Disco. The entrance fee is £4, and there will be a “special visitor”, and all are welcome.
