Downie to sing at Twenty Ten

A TALENTED Matlock-based singer-song-writer will be will be playing at Dale Road venue Twenty Ten tomorrow.

Rachel Rodgers – otherwise known as Downi – started writing songs at the tender age of eight and joined her first band at 14.

Downi and her band sing pop rock with a folky edge, influenced by groups such as the Beatles, Crowded House, Manic Street Preachers and Sheryl Crow.

They will be appearing from 7pm.

On Saturday acoustic, alternative, folk outfit Northern Monkey will be kicking off their summer season at Twenty Ten with support from John Tansley.

The free event starts at 9pm.
