Pye Hill Male Voice Choir

The Pye Hill and District Male Voice Choir return to grass roots for the first concert of the year.

It will take place at CentrePoint Community Church, Franklin Road, Jacksdale, on Saturday, February 8, at 7.30pm.

The choir is one of the oldest male voice choirs in the country and has been based for most of its life at Jacksdale, regularly practising at the Dale Club on Monday evenings at 7.30pm.

The choir’s association with its home locality is of particular importance to its members and the concert provides an early opportunity to hear a wide-ranging concert programme, with a deliberate emphasis placed on songs from the shows.

The concert includes Stout Hearted Men, I Believe, Love Changes Everything, You Raise Me Up, Kings of Swing Medley (Begin the Beguine, Ain’t Misbehavin, Moonlight Serenade, Chattanooga Choo Choo), American Trilogy, May It Be, Jamaica Farewell, Pedro the Fisherman, Every Time I Feel the Spirit, Unchained Melody,The Rose, 76 Trombones, songs from Oliver!, Llanfair, Speed Your Journey, Softly As I Leave You and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

A number of solos will also be performed including Go Down Moses - Matthew Dobney (bass); Sunrise, Sunset – Bill Walker (baritone); O What a Beautiful Mornin’ – Colin Dutton (tenor); and Nothing Like a Dame – Frank Akers (bass).

Everyone is welcome and entry is by payment on the door at £5 for adults and £3. for children up to the age of 16.

The choir always welcomes new members. Why not come to the concert and make yourself known or come to a practise on a Monday evening?

Singing is for all ages, great fun and you will be ensured of a warm welcome.

The choir believes this is a good time of the year to begin a new, pleasurable and rewarding pastime.
