Folk favourites keep it in the family

The Wilson Family will be performing in the area on Saturday, May 31, fresh from appearing on Broadway with Sting.

The Wilson Family will make their third visit to the Florence Nightingale Memorial Hall in Holloway.

Regarded by many as the foremost a cappella group on the British folk scene, they consist of brothers Tom, Chris, Steve, Ken and Mike, who all hail from Teesside.

It is now over 30 years since they started performing as a group and they still have their initial enthusiasm, which will be very evident to their audiences.

In September 2013, the brothers flew over to New York and preformed for ten nights on Broadway.

They were taking part in the concert version of Sting’s musical The Last Ship, which is the title of his latest album, in which the brothers also participated.

The show was televised on BBC One last December, and others in the cast included Jimmy Nail and Kathryn Tickell, also from the North East.

The show starts at 7.30pm at the Holloway venue.
