Folk festival is back for more

THE popular Hartington Folk Festival will return with an expanded line-up of famous names over the weekend of May 28 and 29.

This year, the festival offers a range of fine folk music across both days and evenings in Hartington Village Hall.

Established Canadian act Finest Kind head the bill on May 28, with BBC Radio 2 favourite and Derbyshire native Bella Hardy rounding off proceedings on May 29.

There are both established performers and highly rated young talents on both days, such as Gavin Davenport who has guested with major acts such as Bellowhead, as well as no less than three acts who have featured in the prestigious BBC Young Folk awards.

Festival organiser Martin Jeffrey remarked: “We were packed to the rafters for both evenings last year, so we thought we would expand the festival to include a great range of world class folk musicians.

What with such a great line-up, it being a bank holiday weekend and a bar serving real ale aplenty, we think this will be the best Hartington Folk Festival yet!”

Plenty of local accommodation is available in the form of both B&Bs and campsites, and as usual there will be a free bus service to take people to and from the venue. For full details and to book tickets, visit www.hartingtonfolkfestival.com.
