Halle concert to mark ten years

The Halle Gala Concert is to be held at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday, November 7.

The event, starting at 7.30pm, celebrates a decade of the Halle being the resident orchestra at the venue.

The programme, to be conducted by Sir Mark Elder, kicks off with Elgar’s swaggering Cockaigne Overture, a portrait of London in its many moods.

This is followed by Grieg’s hugely popular Piano Concerto, with Simon Trpceski as soloist, and two Czech works, Dvorak’s cheerful Scherzo Capriccioso and Janacek’s orchestral showpiece Sinfonietta, featuring its massed rank of brass instruments.

Tickets cost £10-£32, available by calling the box office on 0115 9895555.
