New local band Blackcats And Magpies continue their rapid progress with their first headlining gig this weekend.
The four-piece outfit was only formed in the summer and is made up of Keegan Pelser, Nathan Rhys, Elliot Kerin and Sam Duckels.
Playing in an indie acoustic style, they have been going from strength to strength during their short time together and will be filling the 10pm-11pm slot at The Mundy Arms in Heanor on Saturday, September 20.
There are a number of other bands appearing at the venue during the day so this is a great chance for music fans in the area to check out some rising local talent out there.
Blackcats And Magpies play a mix of covers and their own material and are reaching more and more people with their particular style of music.
The band was formed in slightly unusual circumstances after a chance meeting between two of its members on a rugby field.
Over the summer, more and more material was put together and members of the band were able to draw on well over ten years of involvement on the outskirts of the local music scene.
