The Ale House Rocks Music Festival is to take place at the Square and Compass in Darley Dale on Saturday, September 6.
This full day music festival will be kicking off at midday and running through until midnight. The event boasts a huge list of local musicians and bands, playing a eclectic mix of genres from acoustic, rock, pop, punk, blues and even some local hip-hop.
Artists include Facsimile (pictured), Downi, Barkley Smith, Havana Saints, Echoed In Earth, Andy Page, Gareth Barkley-Smith, Jason Barker, Life Story Piracy, Dave Delta, Alex Rennie, City Limits, Hefty Fine and Black Hearted Devils.
One of the organisers, Mike McMaster, from Echoed In Earth, said: “I wanted to put a day of music together for all my friends that are in bands. The Matlock area is really lucky to have such amazing talent. It’s a sort of appreciation gig. We all work really hard all year with rehearsals, writing, promoting, engineering, recording and then throwing all our expensive gear into the back of a less expensive van to play gigs for less money than the fuel it costs to get there... Some of us, anyway! It’s a kind of end-of-season festival where we can all relax and appreciate the talent and all the hard work we ALL put in.
“I approached a friend and local promoter, Paul Taylor, who I know was looking at the Square and Compass for another event. Because of its location, size and attached campsite, we teamed up and here we are! We have a huge marquee, local live sound Engineer ‘Beefstock’ running the PA. We have stalls, real ales, great food and even if the weather isn’t on our side, we’re covered! All you need for a great day!”
Tickets are £5 for the day and are available from the Square and Compass, Darley Dale, from Matlock Music Shop, Dale Road, Matlock, from Little Gem, Crown Square, Matlock. Tickets are also available on the gate on the day of the event. Limited camping is available, priced at £10 per pitch for the Saturday or £15 for both Friday and Saturday night.
