Budding singers of any age are being invited again to join a mass community choir which will perform in the run-up to this year’s Darley Park concert – the UK’s largest free outdoor classical concert - on Sunday, September 1.
The Big Sing choir made its debut at last year’s event, which was brought forward to June to be part of the city’s celebrations to mark the Olympic Torch Relay and was met with a rapturous reception from the crowds at Darley Park. The choir will again entertain the thousands of people who gather in the park in eager anticipation for the 8pm concert by Sinfonia Viva orchestra and then the fireworks finale.
Choirmaster David Lawrence explained: “Last year’s Big Sing Choir was a huge success and we are looking forward to welcoming people of all ages and all musical abilities in this year’s project.”
Four workshops are planned, on Wednesdays 5, 12, 19, 26 June at St Nicholas Church, Allestree. There will be an informal concert on Friday June 28 at St John’s Church.
Each participant will pay £21 to be involved, payable at the first workshop. The fee includes all the workshops, music, and a CD for note-learning. Email email@example.com to register
