The Kinder Children’s Choirs of the High Peak will be in concert at All Saints Parish Church, Bakewell, on Saturday, May 7, from 7.30pm.
The Kinder Children’s Choirs of the High Peak have been one of the major success stories of the cultural life of the High Peak since their formation in 1991 by inspirational founder director Joyce Ellis.
They are firmly established as one of the UK’s foremost children’s choral organisations.
The choirs performing at Bakewell are the Kinder Children’s Choir and the Kinder Youth Choir. The Kinder Youth Choir was formed to give a performing platform for boys who are at the voice change stage.
The Youth Choir has appeared as finalists in BBC 3 Choir of the Year at the Millennium Hall in Cardiff, and the Concert Choir was the clear winner in the Senior Children’s Choir Class at Llangollen International Eisteddfod last July.
The choirs are named after Kinder Scout and involve more than 100 choristers between the ages of 7-18 in a group of five choirs.
Tickets are £10 from The Bakewell Bookshop, or from Joyce Glencross, 1 The Meadows, Grisedale Road, Great Longstone, Derbyshire, DE45 1TP. Please send a cheque (made payable to ‘Bakewell PCC’) and a SAE, or download an application form from www.kinderchildrenschoirs.org.uk
Refreshments will be available. The concert is aimed at raising Bakewell Parish Church.
