Award winning singer, songwriter, actor and performer Marti Pellow will join the cast of Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds for The New Generation Tour, which will come to Capital FM Arena Nottingham on December 4.
The lead singer of Wet Wet Wet will hit the stage alongside a new and exciting cast playing The Voice of Humanity.
Marti Pellow said: “I am so looking forward to working on Jeff Wayne’s classic, The War of The Worlds. I think Jeff’s idea of the New Generation is wonderful. It says to me The War of The Worlds is still about that original amazing piece but it’s also about turning new people on to Jeff’s vision, it delivers so much more to the original fans and will massively inspire new ones.
“As a songwriter I get it big time but as a punter too, watching this show, it will simply blow you away! Jeff’s team have put together a production that is second to none, embracing today’s technology but never losing sight of the star of the show, the songs and that’s why it was a big “yes” from me. Bring it on - I can’t wait!”
Showman Jason Donovan has been announced to play Parson Nathaniel, and actress/West End musical star Kerry Ellis plays his wife, Beth. Also confirmed is Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson in the role of The Artilleryman. Final guest artist to be announced.
Hollywood star Liam Neeson will appear in the new production, for the first time, in the holographic role of The Journalist, taking over from Richard Burton’s iconic narration on the original album, and previous tours.
The ground-breaking, full body, live action hologram is an extraordinary performance from Liam, who interacts with the live performers, including passing objects between hologram and reality!
The War of the Worlds will be at Capital FM Arena Nottingham on Tuesday, December 4. Tickets are priced from £42.50 (plus booking fee). You can book your tickets via the ticket hotline on 08444 124 624, online at www.capitalfmarena.com or in person at Ticketing and Customer Services, Bolero Square, The Lace Market, Nottingham, NG1 1LA.
