musical duo Simon Major and Hilary James bring a memorable mixture of Hoagy, hornpipes, Handel and hoedown to Uppertown Social Centre on Saturday, April 9.
Simon is one of the world’s foremost players of the mandolin and a fine composers for the instrument. Hilary’s singing is quintessentially English, but easily crosses the great musical divides from British ballads to blues and Berlioz. She is renowned too for an unlikely taste in bass instruments, accompanying Simon on guitar on anything from bluegrass to Vivaldi, and even managing a step dance if the wind is in the right direction. If all this has whetted your appetite and you’d like see them at Uppertown Social Centre, contact Eddie for information and tickets on 01246 590502 or 07966 154798.
