AUSTRalian piano virtuoso Jayson Gillham is the latest performer to take part in a concert organised by Matlock Music.
He will be playing in the Wheeldon Hall of the Lumsdale site at Matlock’s Highfields School, on Friday, May 6, starting at 7.30pm.
Jayson Gillham has recently returned to London after reaching the semi-finals of the 2010 Warsaw Chopin International Piano Competition, generally regarded as the greatest piano competition in the world.
Jayson performs regularly across the UK, Europe and Australia. In May, he made his American debut in the Steinway Hall, New York. He is a regular performer at London’s Wigmore Hall and has appeared as a soloist with the LPO.
Jayson’s programme for Matlock Music will embrace a wide range of music from the baroque, through the romantic, to the modern. It includes Bach’s Toccata in G major, Beethoven’s Sonata in A major, Debussy’s Etudes, 10-12, Two Etudes by Ligeti and Variations on a Theme by Handel, by Brahms.
Tickets will be available at the door before the concert for £10. Under 18s are admitted free and students and registered jobseekers pay half-price. All seats are unreserved. There is ample parking at the school. Further information is available from Anne Oldfield on 01629 733296 or from the website www.matlockmusic.org.uk.
