Piano soloist returns to city

NOTTINGHAM Philharmonic Orchestra return to concert action on Saturday, March 17, when they appear at the city’s Royal Concert Hall.

Conducted by Mark Heron, the orchestra will perform four contrasting pieces.

Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto is one of his most popular works and will feature the return on Alexandra Dariescu as the soloist.

Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances are a rich and romantic suite, the last work written by the composer and thought by some commentators to be his crowning masterpiece.

The rest of the programme features short, well-known works by French composers – Debussy’s Prelude A L’Apres Midi D’Un Faune and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, by Paul Dukas.

Tickets are £6-£17. Call the box office for further details on 0115 9895555.
