John Power will be performing his acoustic show at The Loft, Matlock, on Saturday, March 29.

John Power is an English singer-songwriter and musician who achieved commercial success as the bass guitarist and secondary vocalist on the single There She Goes’ for The La’s in 1990.

He later returned to the spotlight as the frontman of Cast during the Britpop movement of the mid 1990s.

John Power has been involved in eight top ten singles, including 2012 Christmas Number 1 The Justice Collective - He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, to raise money for charities associated with the Hillsborough Disaster. Not only that, but Cast had three top ten albums between 1995 and 1999.

John will be supported by, and collaborate with, Jay Lewis, his former band member in The La’s.

They will both perform an acoustic show of The La’s/Cast classics and a selection of new material. Supporting them on the night will be local singer-songwriters Andy Page, Josh Vallance and Alex Rennie.

John Power brings his acoustic show to Matlock as part of a working partnership between Toby Rice (The Loft), Seb Makemsom (IndieWirks) and Steven Murphy (Peak Promotion), with the hope that Matlock will attract more of the same quality in the future.

Tickets can be purchased on www.SeeTickets.com, or on the door at £10 on the night. Doors open at 7pm.

n Thursday, March 27, is the date for an event at Cromford Mills, starting at 7pm, entitled Cronford Revisited: An Evening With The Authors.

Join Doreen Buxton and Christopher Charlton in the Gothic Warehouse, who will be discussing their new book Cromford Revisited, which relies heavily on a wide ranging pictorial archive to offer some interesting new insights into the development of the village.
