Singer/songwriter Robb Johnson is a man with more than 30 years in the business under his belt and he’s still going strong, as you’ll see when he performs at The Queen’s Head in Belper on Friday, March 15.
It’s hard to believe when you see Robb Johnson perform that he is into his fourth decade of writing and playing and he has released 30 albums during that time.
That’s because his songs and performances still retain that youthful exuberance and a cheeky grin is never far away.
A great topical and satirical songwriter, Robb has attracted plaudits from sources as diverse as Tony Benn and The Daily Telegraph. He has been a regular on the Andy Kershaw Show and has performed and recorded with such greats as Leon Rosselson and Roy Bailey.
In 2006, Robb performed in the prestigious Folk Britannia concerts and led the encore in a rousing version of the First World war classic Hanging on the old Barbed Wire. Always driven and passionate, he has never forgotten that a serious point can often be best made with a touch of humour.
Support on the night at the Chesterfield Road-based venue comes from Chris Butler.
Admission is £7 and doors open at 8pm. More details can be found at http://www.queensheadbelper.weebly.com
