Reggae legends to play at festival

UB40, the phenomenally successful UK reggae band, featuring founder members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue, are confirmed as the closing headliner for Bearded Theory – winner of the award for the UK’s Best Small Festival.

UB40 sold more than 100 million records and registered more than 50 singles in the UK charts on their route to global domination.

Next month will see the 35th anniversary of their first ever gig, now marked with a PRS For Music commemorative plaque at the Hare & Hounds in their hometown, Birmingham.

Bearded Theory Festival director Steve Blount said: “As soon as we knew that Ali, Astro and Mickey were available to bring the hits of UB40 to our audience, we were absolutely determined to secure this amazing booking.”

Bearded Theory takes place from May 22-25 at a new location, Catton Hall in South Derbyshire.

UB40 join a line-up which includes Friday night headliner Carter USM, Peter Hook & The Light, Pop Will Eat Itself, Oysterband, Dreadzone, Hayseed Dixie, Fishbone, Dub Pistols, The Orb Sound System and many more.
