Singer John Conolly is to perform in the Burton Institute, Winster, on Friday, May 16, from 8pm.
John Conolly is a highly respected singer and songwriter of the English folk tradition. His finely crafted songs are performed with warmth and good humour to the accompaniment of guitar and melodeon.
Many of John’s songs have a tang of the sea, inherited from his upbringing on the east coast of England, where his grandfather and great-grandfather were boatbuilders.
The bar opens at 7.15pm. Tickets are £7 (£5 for children), available from Winster Post Office or on 01629 650090.
Organiser Geoff Lester said: “This is John’s second visit to our village. In July 2007, he started Winster Entertainments Group going with his show of seaside humour Send us a Postcard.
“We had a sing-song in The Bowling Green at Christmas and one of John’s song’s was sung. Since then a lot of people have been asking me when he’s coming again.”
