If you like your music loud and leery then get down to the Fishpond in Matlock Bath on Friday night (March 18) where you can take in two electric bands for free in the bar from 9pm.
Take The Seven are actually five guys from the Chesterfield/Sheffield area who play alternative/rock which you cannot ignore. What you’ll get is a big and surprisingly commercial show with a frontman who knows how to keep his audience interested.
And, to keep things live and local, Matlock’s very own Causeway Lane are supporting. They are another five-piece line-up playing their own hard-hitting material which will provide a great starter to this electric night.
The music is free in the Fishpond bar from 9pm.
Then, on Saturday, March 19, it’s Band Xplosion time again at the Fishpond ballroom with a triple bill of bands and a singer/songwriter as well.
Electric River, hailing from Kent, are a spirited quartet who do The Clash and Rancid proud with their mix of gritty yet melodic punk rock and doses of reggae for good measure. Shandy Mac are a four-piece indie band from steel town Northants (that’s Corby to you and me) keeping the punkish theme going for the weekend.
Cat amongst the pigeons will be local trio SKM who will provide a more ordered mix of material. First up will be Derby-based Josh Walsh in what is believed to be his debut Fishpond gig. Doors open at 8pm and entry is £3.
