Six of the best at Queen’s Head

THERE’S some pre-Christmas fun to be had at The Queen’s Head in Belper courtesy of a gig there on Friday, December 16, organised by Derbyshire-based Deafbox Promotions.

Opening the gig are the up and coming Belper-based duet of Jack and Fran. The two friends have partnered up to bring you a set full of acoustic covers, as well as some original songs too.

Next up will be solo artist Tom Makinson. This local lad is making a great name for himself within the Derbyshire acoustic scene with his catchy songs and excellent guitar riffs.

Keeping the night flowing will be Kilburn youngsters Midday Firework. After forming as a school band, they are starting to hit venues around the area delivering a mix of popular rock songs.

Also on the bill are local band The Alternative, the Belper/Ashbourne four-piece who have continued putting on great shows in and around Derbyshire, with a wide assortment of toe-tapping classics, using a whole range of different instruments.

The fifth act of the night will be Deafbox’s Battle of the Bands 2011 winners Okapi. The Ripley indie rockers are back on the circuit to entertain and impress yet again. Topping off the night will be Time is Up. The Belper boys impressed local music fans and managed to reach the final of Deafbox’s Battle of the Bands 2011.

Entry is only £4 for all 6 acts and doors are at 6.45pm.
