So much to enjoy in the latest Derby Feste

The organisers of Derby Festé 2013 have announced a whole host of additional acts who will perform and entertain thousands of people at the city’s ultimate street festival, on September 27-28.

Derby Festé has made a name for showcasing breath-taking outdoor acts and performances by companies from across the UK and abroad. Again, this year’s event promises to be the usual visual feast, on a spectacular


During the weekend, visitors to the city can experience and enjoy a wide range of fun and spellbinding performances including the main attraction on the Friday evening, As The World Tipped by Wired Aerial Theatre.

Appearing on Bass’ Recreation Ground at 8pm, this eye-catching and explosive aerial show tells a powerful tale of ecological crisis in a real life disaster movie in the sky, with on a precariously moving screen and platform.

Following the performance, junk percussion duo Bang On! will lead the audience back to the Market Place where local musical acts will perform in front of a special light installation.

On the Saturday. the streets of Derby will come alive from 12pm with entertainers for the whole family including: C12 presenting Trolleys, a fun new ballet performed with five supermarket trolleys; Upswing, a truly unique circus skills

act which promises to turn your world upside down; Dutch group Close Act, a company of stilt walkers, dancers, musicians, fire throwers and acrobats with their surreal White Wings; Company Chameleon, a dance theatre

company which brings history and stories to life with beauty, force and intensity; the return of award-winning Flame Oz with a mesmerising fire show; and Whalley Range All Stars’ Imaginary Friends, ten life-size puppets who

will lead audiences on a singing, theatrical journey.

Making another welcome return will be the popular Splash Stage where local acts, from a wide range of live performance styles, will appear over the Festé weekend in the Market Place, in front of The Waterfall and outside the Book Café in The Cornmarket.

On Cathedral Green at 7.30pm, DJ Yoda – declared by Q Magazine as “one of the ten DJs to see before you die” –will present his Music and Cinema experience.

Part DJ set, part movie and part comedy show, DJ Yoda mixes music of all genres – TV themes, random samples, tunes you recognise and tunes you don’t – to create a truly unique audio-visual experience for all the family.

This will be followed by a Market Place Bollywood-themed Festé party created and curated by Charity Shop DJ with Surtal Arts.
