The new social club at Matlock Town is up and running – and they’re looking for new members.
The brand new social club facilities are now open for business at Matlock Town FC’s Causeway Lane home.
One of the first events at the newly refurbished club will be a concert by Rod Stewart tribute act Garry Pease on Saturday, May 28.
Social club committee member Graham Mumby said: “We’re delighted to be finally up and running. We’re really pleased with it.
“We’re inviting everyone to come down and see the Rod Stewart tribute act, it should be a cracking night.”
“I think it’s amazing, because seven years ago we just couldn’t believe it was ever going to happen.”
As well as concerts, the club is available for hire as a conference venue and as a meeting place for all kinds of groups. Matlock’s new orienteering group has signed up to use the club for its weekly meetings – and Graham is inviting other organisations to follow suit.
He said: “It’s a facility for the community. There isn’t really anywhere like this in Matlock. We’re encouraging people to come down, anyone and everyone is welcome.
“By this time next year we might be full up every day and getting a few people through the door at night as well.”
As well as a bar, the club features two snooker tables, a darts board, table tennis, pool and live big screen sport.
The club will be open five days a week, Tuesday to Saturday, from 6pm until close.
Membership of the club costs £12 per year.
Tickets for the Rod Stewart Experience are £5 for members and £10 for non members. These are available from the social club, Matlock Town club shop or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also on the night there will be a 60s, 70s and 80s disco. Doors are open at 7pm.
