Musicwork Vocal Ensemble will perform two concerts in a day in Chesterfield on Saturday June 21st.
Ensemble members will sing in the library theatre as part of the free lunchtime series from 11.45am – 12.30pm. In the evening they will be performing at the Rose Hill United Reformed Church near the Town Hall in Chesterfield at 7.30pm.
The singers will perform a wide range of unaccompanied vocal music and are joined by a guest ensemble: Muskoka Wind Quintet from Sheffield. The programme, which will include several joint items, is varied, entertaining and perfect for summer.
The two groups have performed together several times in the past - most notably in Chatsworth’s Painted Hall for a Mayor’s charity concert back in 2007.
MusicWork is based in Chesterfield and sing all over Derbyshire. The ensemble has released three CD recordings, represented the town on four tours to Troyes and Darmstadt and performed at Fountains Abbey, Haddon Hall, Buxton Opera House and the Crooked Spire.
The ensemble is directed by Andrew Marples who said: “This group has a unique sound and performing style. All lovers of fine choral music will enjoy their singing and the programmes are wonderfully varied”.
Admission to the evening concert is £7 on the door. For more information, call 01246 211655.
