Belper & District Organ & Keyboard Club welcomes Brian Hazelby for its first concert of 2014 this weekend.

Having spent a lifetime in music, Brian spent his early days playing the piano before spending three years in the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars military band in Germany playing clarinet and piano.

After demob, the long hard road of the professional musician started - from humble working men’s clubs to a residency in Bermuda with the Geraldo London Orchestra.

Later, he was a bandleader for Mecca dancing in Birmingham and a one-time member of the John Barry Seven.

In 1972, he appeared on Opportunity Knocks, playing a Lowrey organ kindly loaned to him by the late great Jerry Allen.

After many years of playing Wersi organs, he now plays the Yamaha Tyros 4 + pedals + Bose L1 compact speaker system.

This is the setup now used for concerts and the audiences really enjoy his unique presentation and musicianship.

The concert will be on Saturday, January 18, at The Congregational Church, Green Lane, Belper, at 7:30pm.

Admission as always is £5 for members and £7 non members, including refreshments.
