It’s back! After many months of waiting and build-up, the eagerly-awaited and award-winning Y Not musical festival returns at the weekend.

Y Not runs from Friday, August 2 to Sunday, August 4, at Pikehall near Matlock.

As ever, there is a stellar line-up of bands and musicians performing over the course of the festival, including The Cribs, The Darkness, The Horrors, The Enemy, Ash, Mystery Jets, Deaf Havana, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Dry The River, The 1975, Electric Six and Kids In Glass Houses.

In addition, you can see the likes of IsMe, Chapel Club, Temples, The Temperance Movement, Whitemoor, Nightworks, Maybeshewill , Chloe Howl and many, many more.

Organisers have also been running a search for the best new talent and have chosen the 20 unsigned bands who will be playing at Y Not this year, out of the 1,700 artists who applied.

There are three arenas: the main arena, Sgt Pepper’s Meadows and the Octopus’ Garden, and seven stages (the Hog and Barrel is a stage AND a bar).

Bars include Dolly Daggers, The Watch Tower Mussel Beach, The Ice Bucket and Shisha Lounge Saloon Bar.

The stages are The Big Gin (main stage) Quarry, Giant Squid (heavy/loud/experimental/prog rock), Allotment (home-grown talent – the best of unsigned artists), Hog and Barrel Bar (open mike/stand-up comedy/acoustic), Flamin’ Goat and Reggae Tent.

In addition, there’s a roller disco, a kids’ activity tent, dodgems, a helter skelter, a healing area and a massage tent.

And it goes without saying that there is plenty of room for camping onsite, plus lot of food options to keep you nourished during the weekend.

If you want to arrive a day early, there are Thursday entry tickets (an extra £12/per person) while tickets for the weekend are £79.50.
