You can be diva for the day

Award-winning Cromford-based women’s chorus DaleDiva is inviting women and girls to ‘release their inner diva’ at a one-day singing workshop and concert.

The Divas are hosting their sixth popular ‘Diva for a Day’ event at Belper School Theatre on Saturda, March 8, and registration packs are available now.

Would-be Divas will be invited to learn and sing American pop star Katy Perry’s hit Firework, which hit the charts in 2010 and The Beach Boys’ 1960s classic God Only Knows.

DaleDiva musical director Ally Law, 44, who formed the chorus in 2007, said: “It will be a great day full of fun, laughter and harmony in a fantastic venue and a terrific opportunity for women of all ages to find out how much fun singing together in four-part harmony can be.

“You don’t have to read music, won’t have to sing on your own and don’t even need to have any singing experience. Just come along and have a great time!”

The one-day workshop is open to women and girls – mums, daughters, grandmas, aunties, sisters and nieces (minimum age eight) – of all abilities.

Participants will be sent learning tracks by email or CD and sheet music when they register. They will receive vocal coaching and tuition from Ally and the Divas and learn some simple choreography.

After all their hard work participants will be invited to take part in a performance at the end of the day to show off their new singing skills and also enjoy a show by DaleDiva and special guests.

All music and learning tracks as well as tea, coffee and soft drinks are included in the registration fee.

An optional teatime buffet is available at an additional cost of £5 per person.

Diva for a Day will take place at Belper School, John O’Gaunt’s Way, Belper, from 12.30am to 5pm.
