One of the most popular operas of all time, Carmen is coming to Buxton this month.
Opera Ballet International and Ellen Kent have collaborated on the production which features international soloists, chorus and full orchestra.
Carmen tells the story of a gipsy girl who works in a factory with a group of smugglers, targeting Seville. She lures Don José away from both his responsibilities as a soldier and his lover Micaëla – but as his passion for Carmen intensifies, jealousy takes over when he discovers she loves the bull-fighter Escamillo.
One of the most famous and seductive operas of all time, Carmen is known for some of the most memorable arias in the repertoire, including The Toreador’s Song.
Ellen Kent’s production features a new set design which recreates the stunning architecture of Seville and its main square - complete with its Roman and Moorish influences.
Carmen takes place at Buxton Opera House on Sunday, March 20, at 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced at £30 to £40 and discounts are available. To book, contact the Opera House box office on 01298 72190 or visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
