DERBY Live’s new spring season offers a bonanza of treats for fans of music and comedy.

For those in search of big laughs, look no further Sarah Millican, the chatty Geordie who has risen in the last two years to become a household name.

Her latest show – Chatterbox – can be seen at Derby Theatre on Monday, February 28, from 8pm.

Sarah Millican is the star of Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Dave’s One Night Stand and is the if.comedy Best Newcomer award winner. Her Derby date is part of an extension of her hugely popular debut tour which opened to rave reviews in August at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – so why not spend a while with the sweet and filthy Geordie for a night which promises jokes about life, love and everything else under the sun.

Another rising star on the comedy scene can be seen on Saturday, March 12, from 8pm, in the Great Hall at Derby’s Assembly Rooms. Fresh from his self-titled BBC2 series, Stephen K Amos offers more melt-in-the-middle, heartfelt humour to warm the very cockles of your heart.

Laughter really is the best medicine and the doctor will see you now.

As for the music line-up, you could try Jason Derulo at the Assembly Rooms on Monday, February 21, from 7pm.

Fresh from a hugely successful summer of live dates, including V Festival, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and a headline UK tour, Jason Derulo is firmly established as one of music’s hottest new stars with global sales of over 12 million singles, 1.3 million of them in the UK with current single What If?, the No.1 smash In My Head, Ridin’ Solo and his debut Whatcha Say, which also topped the US Billboard chart.

For something a little out of the ordinary, try The Imagined Village, at the Assembly Rooms on Friday, February 18, from 8pm. This project is a daring fusion of musical cultures with an array of brilliant and challenging voices where fiddles and squeezebox breathe easily alongside electronica and ambient effects, led by Grammy Award-winning musician and producer, Simon Emmerson.

The line-up includes Martin Carthy, Eliza Carthy and Chris Wood.

Finally, how about a knees-up with Chas & Dave at the Assembly Rooms on Wednesday, April 6.

The cult musical legends are back on tour and this time it’s their final one.
