Popular soprano Lesley Garrett is celebrating 30 years in the music industry by coming to Buxton, a town with which she has had a long association.

Garrett has enjoyed one of the most successful careers of any modern-day, classically trained singers.

The breadth and quality of her work combined with her down-to-earth northern charm, has won her both critical acclaim and the affection of music lovers.

Lesley has a lengthy history with Buxton Opera House, making some of her first performances at the Buxton Festival before joining English National Opera in 1984 as a principal soprano.

She has since performed across the world in both comic and serious operatic roles and more recently has carved a career as a TV and radio personality (Who Do You Think You Are?, Strictly Come Dancing, Loose Women, Classic FM, FA Cup Finals).

As a recording artist, Lesley has 14 solo CDs to her credit, several earning her awards including gold and silver discs. She was also a featured artist on the platinum selling Perfect Day single released by the BBC in aid of Children in Need.

An Audience with Lesley Garrett, an evening of reminiscence and song, is at Buxton Opera House on Sunday, November 8, at 7.30pm.

Hosted by Mike Neary, audiences are invited to hear Lesley’s behind-the-scenes stories and anecdotes about her life and her career.
