Author on track with new book

THE Midland Railway – Butterley will be hosting the launch of a new book about the railways of Nottinghamshire.

The book is written by long standing member of the Midland Railway Trust, Steve Huson, who will be at Butterley Station from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, February 26, to sign copies.

Nottinghamshire Railways: The Age of Steam is published by Countryside Books and deals with the history of Nottinghamshire’s railway network in detail.

The book looks at the reasons for the building of the railways and the impact of their construction and operation on the communities that they served. The book follows Steve’s’ popular work Derbyshire In The Age of Steam.

Alan Calladine, the Midland Railway Trust development officer, said: “We are delighted to see Steve Huson back at the Midland Railway – Butterley. I am sure that his new book will be just as popular as his Derbyshire volume. Steve brings a new viewpoint on to the building of the railway network in Nottinghamshire. Anyone wanting a signed copy of the book is recommended to visit the Midland Railway – Butterley on February 26.”
