Bourne ballet aims to be a cut above

Edward Scissorhands, devised, directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne, will set off on a national tour early next week, stopping off at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal along the way.

New Adventures’ magical production of Edward Scissorhands has carved a place in the hearts of thousands of people across the world since its premiere in 2005.

After sell out performances in Europe, America and Australia this spectacular modern fairy tale returns to the UK in its first major revival.

The iconic title role will be played by two popular New Adventures stars, Dominic North and Liam Mower.

Matthew Bourne said: “In 2005, I achieved a long-time ambition to bring Edward Scissorhands to the stage, and I am proud that New Adventures remains the only company globally to present this contemporary fairy tale classic.

“I remain supremely grateful to the original creators of the beloved movie, for their continued trust, support and openness in allowing us to develop this wonderful cinematic classic for another medium.

It can be seen at the Theatre Royal from January 20-24.
