There’s only just over a week to go until the start of this year’s expanded and eagerly-awaited Matlock Festival.
The community event, running from July 12-20, is back with a bang and is expected to draw hordes of visitors to the town.
Running from July 12- 20, the festival is set to include comedy, music, dance, sport and family entertainment.
In addition, this year’s festival will see the return of an Arts And Craft Fair and the Food And Drinks Festival. The former is at Hall Leys Park on Saturday, July 19, while the latter is on the following day at the same venue.
There will be 50 stalls on each day for you to enjoy.
Star Wars fans will be delighted to hear of the return of the Stormtroopers for the Food And Drinks Festival, from 10am-4pm, bringing co-star Chewbacca along with them, and collecting money on behalf of locally-based charity Helen’s Trust.
With over 4,000 people expected to attend during the weekend, more stalls have been added.
Anthony Buff, organiser of the Food and Drinks Festival said: “We’re really happy with how Sunday has turned out, we have more stalls than ever before and not only will the Stormtroopers be back but they’ll be bringing along an iconic character. We’re sure fans and the public will have great fun having their selfies with Chewbacca.
“I’m really proud we have managed to book 50 stalls for the event. People can expect a huge range of foods and drinks, some local and some of the best from around the world.”
