Buxton Festival has won a prestigious silver prize in the Best Event category at the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence.
The festival faced huge competition in the category as Royal Ascot, Manchester International Festival and The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival were all nominated for Best Event, after each won Gold in their regional awards in October. The ceremony was held at The Great Hall, Birmingham University and was hosted by the chairman of VisitEngland, Lady Cobham and comedian Sandi Toksvig.
The awards aim to highlight the work of first-rate businesses, raise standards across the industry and secure England’s place as a world-class holiday destination, celebrating the very best the country has to offer.
Glyn Foley, chief executive at Buxton Festival said: “We’re thrilled to have won silver at such a prominent national final and are pleased that the positive impact the arts can have on the community and regional economy is recognised.”
