A hilarious and touching play about birth, marriage and death in a small town community will be staged by Hathersage Players.
Set in a beauty parlour in Louisiana, run by Truvy and her eager, but inexperienced assistant Annelle, the show focuses on their regular customers, Clairee, Ouiser, M’Lynn and Shelby.
Amid the day to day gossip is a heart-rending story of Shelby, newly married and pregnant, despite the fact that diabetes could make child-birth life-threatening.
Her mum, M’Lynn, is terrified at the possibility of losing her daughter and looks to her closest friends for strength and laughter as she battles her deepest fear of death.
In Hathersage Players production, Vicky Harris plays Truvy, Rachael Russell is Shelby, Jane Litherland is M’Lynn, Jenni Sugg is Clairee and Christine Marshall is Ouiser.
Steel Magnolias will be staged at Hathersage Memorial Hall from Wednesday, May 28, to Saturday, May 31, at 7.30 pm.
Tickets priced at £8 and £6 are available from Tom and Toria Crooks, tel. 01433 651615 or firstname.lastname@example.org
