High Tor Players return to the stage later this month after a period of two years without a production.
The Matlock-based amateur drama group has a great history of putting on plays ever since 1937. The last play, aptly named Old Actors Never Die.. was staged to small audiences in 2012 and in 2013 the rehearsals for When We Are Married had to be abandoned halfway through. It then looked as though the group may close after 75 years.
But following those tough times, things are on the up again. Newly appointed secretary Simon Brister explained: “At the recent AGM, a new team of keen but experienced actors showed the enthusiasm to help revive the group and this has resulted in the next production, which is set to tour the area.”
A Comedy Feast consists of two one-act comedies called Meat and Two Veg and What’s for Pudding and they will be staged at 8pm on Thursday, September 25, at Youlgrave village Hall, Friday, September 26, at Ashover Village Hall and Saturday, September 27, at the Medway Community Centre, Bakewell.
Tickets at £8 each and can be obtained from the box office by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01629 733407.
The group welcomes interest, whether onstage or backstage, and if interested more details available from Simon Brister on 01629 541898 or via email@example.com
