Its plot revolves around a light operatic society as they rehearse for a production of The Beggar’s Opera by John Gay. Songs from Gay’s satire on 18th century politics and morals are interwoven with, and reflect, the action of the play.

Paul Archer plays the director who puts all his passion into the production, Jenni Archer is cast as his neglected wife, Tim Smallwood plays a newcomer, Jo
Elliott takes the role of a local swinger and Martin Chapman plays her husband.
