Members of Birmingham Stage Company will be back at Derby Theatre this week to perform their latest show Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain.

This latest ‘horrible’ offering from the company is the world premiere of Terry Deary’s play and can be seen from October 7-11.

Birmingham Stage Company have had huge success over the last eight years with their many different Horrible Histories shows, both in London’s West End and on tour, including, previously at, and with, Derby Theatre, Terrible Tudors, Rotten Romans and last year’s festive smash hit, Horrible Christmas.

Now comes Horrible Histories Barmy Britain, complete with all new amazing 3D special effects.

Can you beat battling Boudicca? What if a Viking moved in next door? Would you lose your heart or head to horrible Henry VIII? Can evil Elizabeth entertain England? Will Parliament survive gunpowder Guy?

Should King Charles keep his head? Dare you stand and deliver to dastardly Dick Turpin? Move to groove with party Queen Victoria and prepare to do battle in the frightful First World War

It’s the history of Britain with the nasty bits left in.

Barmy Britain is adapted by Terry Deary and Neal Foster from Deary’s best-selling Horrible Histories books. Terry Deary is the world’s best-selling non-fiction author for children and one of the most popular children’s authors in the country.

He has written 200 books which have been translated into 40 different languages. His 50 Horrible Histories titles have sold over 25 million copies worldwide from China to Brazil.

Birmingham Stage Company is the UK’s premiere company producing theatre for children, well known for its acclaimed productions of The Jungle Book, Kensuke’s Kingdom, Skellig and Roald Dahl adaptations including George’s Marvellous Medicine and currently James and the Giant Peach.

BSC actor/manager Neal Foster will direct the show with music by Matthew Scott, and 3D special effects by Amazing Interactives.

Horrible Histories Barmy Britain is a great treat for all the family and school parties. It will entertain all ages with its journey through 2,000 years of history from the Romans to the First World War.
