There will be another evening of laughter at The Fishpond in Matlock Bath on Wednesday, February 19, when the latest Stagefright Comedy Club event takes place there.
Appearing on the bill this time will be Shazia Mirza, Danny McLoughlin, Richard Jow, Steve Goodall and regular compere Anthony J Brown.
Shazia (above right) is an award-winning British Asian stand up comedian and columnist from Birmingham, sticking the figurative knife into political correctness with devastatingly funny effect.
She performs all over the world and has toured the US, Sweden, India, Denmark, France, Holland and Germany. Her vast array of international TV credits include the BBC’s Have I Got News For You. Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff and CBS’s 60 Minutes.
Danny McLoughlin, as seen on Dave’s One Night Stand, is a former finalist in the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year.
Danny supported Micky Flanagan on his national Going Out Out tour and Sean Lock on his Lockipedia tour. He also took his debut hour long show The Truth, The Half Truth and Nothing Like The Truth to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August last year to great critical acclaim.
With an amiable, confident stage presence and a tautly written set, Danny delivers material with more than just an immediate pay-off line, preferring to take the joke one or two steps further. Confident enough to take a risk on stage he does so not to the detriment of the audience, keeping them hanging on every word.
Also on the bill will be Richard Jow and Steve Goodall.
Compere Anthony J Brown (above left) will provide his array of hilarious ad-libs and wicked one-liners.
Doors open at 7pm and the show gets under way at 8pm.
Admission is £6 in advance or £8 on the door.
