Local band The Swiines are out on tour this week supporting star performer Jake Bugg.
The band is Nottingham-based but bassist Rory Black is from Ripley. The Swiines’ frontman Scott Bugg is Jake Bugg’s cousin. In fact, Jake used to rehearse and play live with The Swiines aged just 14 before his career took off, so it’s very fitting they should join forces again for his autumn tour.
Scott said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for our band. We are so delighted that he has chosen us to support him. It will give us a huge boost, and help us to get the break that we need’’
This will be the second time that the band has supported Jake Bugg.
They opened for him in front of a 10,000 strong home-crowd at Bugg’s sold out event at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena in February this year.
The four-piece Swiines, who formed in 2009 are working on new material in preparation for the yet untitled debut album release.
They will be supporting Jake Bugg on Glasgow (October 9), Dundee (October 10) and Edinburgh (October 12).
