They want to tell you a story

MATLOCK Storytelling Cafe plays host to an event on April Fool’s Day that is so good, you’d be a fool to miss it.

The event will bring tales of wisdom from local fool Mike Payton who will be storytelling alongside Roisin Murray. Have you ever wondered just what happens after ‘Happy Ever After’, when the bright young things have lived a bit? Does age bring them wisdom, or make them fools?

For many, the real adventure begins when there is a bit of snow on the roof, as these tales of aging seducers, canny beggars and jealous mothers will show. The fool has many faces and facets. He is a persistent presence in tales the world over, lampooned and celebrated in equal measures. We are united through our human foibles and through our stories. Join the Storytelling Cafe team for a celebration of all things foolish.

Matlock Storytelling Cafe is held at the Imperial Rooms in Matlock. The doors open at 6.45pm and light meals, hot and soft drinks and fantastic cakes are available. You’re welcome to bring your own bottle of wine or beer, glasses are provided. The stories start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7 (£3 for students) and are available from The Greenway Cafe, Snitterton Rd, Matlock, or by calling Storytelling Cafe on 01629 580023.
