Tour dates postponed after star’s illness

A touring production of A Passionate Woman has been postponed after its star Lynda Bellingham was diagnosed with cancer.

Sheffield Theatres and co-producers David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers have announced the postponement of the tour of the Kay Mellor play, which was due to be seen at both Derby Assembly Rooms and Nottingham Theatre Royal.

Lynda Bellingham has been been advised that, due to medical treatment, it would not be possible to commit to a national tour at this time. However, she will return to the production next year.

She said: “I’m devastated not to be able to honour my commitments to the play this year, but having toured many times before, I’m aware of the sheer stamina needed, and I need to prioritise my recovery.

“That said, nothing’s going to stop me coming back next year, and I can’t wait to be ‘a passionate woman’.”

Daniel Evans from the production said: “We look forward to welcoming Lynda back soon.”

Ticket holders are be ing contacted directly by the box office at both venues.
